Scientific Instruments Division to
spin off from SII
As of December 1, 2003, Seiko Instruments Inc.(SII)
Scientific Instruments Division will spin off from SII
and merge with SII Microscope Inc. establishing a new
company “SII NanoTechnology Inc.”.
The nanotechnology market, where SII Scientific Instruments
Division has been focusing, is expected to expand rapidly,
while competition intensifies in the market. This spin-off
is key part of our strategy to gain recognition for
our scientific instruments business in the market, and
to reinforce our flexibility to respond customers’
diversifying needs. As a new company, we will strive
to expand and develop our business globally, with prompt
decision making and efficient business operation.
Epolead Service Inc. will become a SII NanoTechnology
Inc. subsidiary company, and continue to provide both
maintenance service and supplies for scientific instruments.
